Advanced Sems
The advanced communication needs of the users are addressed through a host of collaboration Sems available on the layer. This module provides an elaborative description of these Sems.
The Headline Sem is used to provide an information overview and a link to the Comty, which contains the complete details and the context of that Information. It is placed on the Comty that is most frequently accessed by the users in order to attract the users to that particular information, such as the latest News Comty.
Fields:
Title - The text that would appear as the Headline (appears linked).
Comty ID - The Comty to which the Headline Sem would be linked.

How to post a 'Headline' Sem
Step 1:Click the desired space to get the shuttle.
Step 2:Click the shuttle link to get the expanded shuttle.
Step 3:Click the '[+]' link that appears next to the File link on the expanded shuttle interface. Select 'Headline' link from the list of Sems displayed. You will get a form with the fields mentioned above.
Step 4:Provide the details in the respective fields.
Step 5:Click the 'submit' button to submit the form.
The Headline Sem is posted in context and appears in context and on the ‘Times®’ page as well. By clicking on the Headline title, the user is redirected to the specific comty.
The term 'Kitem' stands for 'Knowledge Item'. This Sem is used to provide a detailed report. It consists of two parts:
(a) The highlighted summary of the report and
(b) The detailed report.
After reading the highlighted summary, you can choose to read the detailed report. Unlike a 'LongText' Sem, it does not have the 'more' link to view the details. Instead the report is immediately visible under the highlighted abstract.
Fields:
Title - The title of the 'Kitem' Sem.
Description - Detailed information of the report.
Abstract - Summary of the detailed information that appear in a different color within a bordered outline once the Sem is submitted
URL - Hyperlink reference to an external website/URL. (Optional)
How to post a 'Kitem' Sem
Step 1: Click the desired space to get the shuttle.
Step 2: Click the shuttle link to get the expanded shuttle.
Step 3: Click the '[+]' link that appears next to the File link on the expanded shuttle interface. Type 'Kitem' in the input field and hit 'Go'. Alternatively, select 'Kitem' link from the list of Sems displayed. You will get a form with the fields mentioned above.
Step 4: Provide the details in the respective fields.
Step 5:Click the 'submit' button to submit the form.
The Kitem Sem appears in context as well as on the Times® Page. If you have provided a URL, the title of the Kitem Sem appears as a hyperlink.
The long text Sem is specifically used in situations where a lengthy description regarding a topic needs to be provided. A News Sem can be used for uploading information on the layer. However, in the case that the information is extensively descriptive, a LongText Sem is used. The 'abstract' of the long text displays a brief idea about the entire content.
Fields:
Title - The title of the Long Text Sem.
Description-Detailed description of the information, only a part of which is displayed in the Comty view after the Sem is submitted. Click the 'more' link to view the entire description.
Abstract- Key extracts from the detailed information that appear in a different color within a bordered outline once the Sem is submitted
URL - Hyperlink reference to an external website/URL. (Optional)
How to post a 'Long Text' Sem
Step 1: Click the desired space to get the shuttle.
Step 2: Click the shuttle link to get the expanded shuttle.
Step 3: Click the ‘[+]’ link that appears next to the File link on the expanded shuttle interface. Type 'Long Text' in the input field and hit 'Go'. Alternatively, select 'LongText' link from the list of Sems displayed. You will get a form with the fields mentioned above.
Step 4: Provide the details in the respective fields.
Step 5: Click the 'submit' button to submit the form.
The Long Text Sem appears in context and on the Times® Page as well. If you have provided a URL, the title of the Long Text Sem appears as a hyperlink. Click the 'more' link to view the detailed information.
Alternatively, click 'cancel’ to close the detailed description.
The Mark and Place functionality enables the Administrators/Owners of a Sem to manage and structure the information on the layer as per their requirements. The mark function enables the Administrators/Owners to mark the desired Sems and move them into different contexts using the Mark & Place functionality.
You can use the Mark & Place functionality only if you are an Administrator/Owner on the Sem and you can place the marked Sems only in context to those Sems where you have Administrator/Owner rights.
How to 'Mark and Place' a Sem
Step 1: Click the desired space to get the shuttle.
Step 2: Click the shuttle link to get the expanded shuttle.
Step 3: Click the 'Mark' link to mark the specific Sem. Multiple Sems can be marked simultaneously. All the marked Sems appear in the Mark interface.
Step 4: Click the desired space where the marked Sem needs to be placed.
Step 5: Click the [+] link (next to the Mark link) to view the marked Sems.
Step 6: Select the desired marked Sem from the mark interface and place it using the 'Move' link.
The Sem gets moved to the desired space. Similarly the rest of the marked Sems can also be placed in the relevant spaces on the layer, according to your access role.
The HTML with Editor functionality enables the users to write out content in HTML format without having any prior knowledge of HTML. The users write out the content in the HTML editor interface in text format, which gets converted to HTML.
How to use HTML Editor
Step 1: Click the desired space to get the shuttle.
Step 2: Click the shuttle link to get the expanded shuttle.
Step 3: Click the [+] link (next to the File link) to view more Sems.
Step 4: Click the HTML with Editor link to get the HTML editor interface.
Step 5: An Input field is available to the user where he can write the HTML code (if the user is familiar with HTML). If you don’t have any knowledge of HTML, click the “Get the HTML editor” link. You will get a WYSIWYG HTML editor.
Step 6: In the WYSIWYG HTML editor interface you can write the desired content in text format using the tools available in the interface to format the content. You can edit, preview and view the corresponding HTML code generated automatically for the content written by the user.
Step 7: Click the Submit HTML link to submit the content.
Step 8: The HTML code for the content submitted appears in the Input field. Click the submit button to post the content on to the layer.
The content appears in context as well as on the Times® Page as HTML.
