Sem is a native word for a Colayer Semantic Object. A Sem is the building block of the collaborative web. Everything that you see on this page is a Colayer Sem. This paragraph is a Para Sem. The box on the right hand side, containing the Help guides on the right hand side, is an HTML SEM.

Riding the waves of the Internet in solitude is never easy. You know that you are never alone, that there are many others looking at the same page as you are; but yet you are alone. On the Layer, you are online, but you are not alone.

In every Comty that you visit you will see some gray bars. A Comty may have zero to infinite number of sections. A section is basically a context within a context. The sections within a Comty allow you to navigate the Comty more easily. Is it a News Sem? Look under the News Section. Is it a file? Oh, it must be in the File Section. Cannot find it? Try the general section, then!

Has your Comty or Page become too cluttered? Don’t want to see something anymore? Uploaded a wrong file? Want to delete/erase something?
Archive it.

Knowledge can, or rather should, never be destroyed. With this thought in mind, Colayer offers you the Archive option. If you think an item has passed its shelf life, simply Archive it. Archived items do not ‘disappear’ altogether. They can still be seen and restored from the Archive link available at the bottom of every Comty.

A pos is an Owner/Admin Access-restricted feature that constitutes the basic structure of a Colayer Comty or a Colayer Page.
A pos, combined with the shuttle is a powerful tool. Poses define the structure of you Comty or Page. By default all Colayer Comties have four poses – a top pos, two middle poses (left & right) and a bottom pos. You can add as many poses as you want.
Click a Pos to add Sections. Add as many Sems, Section, poses, as you want, using a single pos.

So you can see that a lot of people have downloaded that document of yours, and you want to know who they are? Simple. Click the hits link. The ‘hits’ link provides you a list of members who have attempted to access the file or URL.

Express your emotions virtually on the layer. A variety of expressions are available in the advanced shuttle. Your emotions can vary from simple agreement to excitement. Choose the appropriate expression for the Sem and convey the exact emotions!
