Server Side Stability
Colayer has further worked on stabilizing the version. The version works much better with more concurrent users.

- Micro Streams
Colayer has implemented micro-streams, which has additional benefits as compared to previous versions. Not only the Colayer application is compatible with most of the Mobile devices but also at the same time the ‘tick – tick’ sound effect, which used to come with Colayer auto refresh, is eliminated. |

Many additional security elements have been added from the last 6 months, to have a safer working environment. The Colayer web server has a robust working interface that has now stricter standards. It is now also possible, as an option, to have a Colayer powered website running on SSL.

Colayer, with every rework & release, is constantly improving the performance. Since there has been stability fixes with this version, core interfaces enhanced and memory leaks corrected it has given a boost to the overall performance.

4. Functional Improvements
|
- Search enhancement
Couple of important enhancements has been made to Search for better performance & stability. Earlier Colayer was using Lucene 1.4 version implemented in C#. This has been implemented in C++ interface, now Colayer uses the new Lucene 2.0 interface. The ‘document-size’ while indexing is optimized (ranking) for better search results. |
- File upload with status bar in the form
File upload feature is improved by adding a status bar indicating the percentage of file that is getting uploaded. While you continue to type the contents in the form (title or description) the selected file continues to get uploaded in the background. With this a considerable amount of time is saved if the Internet connection is slow or in case a bigger size of file has to be uploaded. |
- Presentation & Address book
The look-and-feel of the Virtual Meeting (Presentation) & Address book is enhanced to have a better user experience (usability). |
- Validation
Now all the validations are checked on the server side to ensure only the right data is saved in the same. This is applicable on all the Colayer forms – questionnaires, web forms etc. We have also differentiated between a “Warning” & an “Error”.
Warning is basically a pre-intimation to the user that the filled content does not match the desired data type. Still if the user wants to go ahead filling the data he has an option to click on ‘Submit’ button.
Error is something that cannot be accepted by the system, as it is mandatory to post data in the right format. The user is not allowed to post the incorrect content/data to the application. |
- Result
The Result feature is used to display the details of the SEM in the Tabular format. A result for any SEM can be generated with results functionality. The Table can contain all fields or we can even specify the fields to be displayed.

- Improved Session design
If you are an administrator or a user who wants to know the activity level of a particular user, the improved session design helps you know what a particular user has done in a particular session. Where he has gone, what kind of contents he has created, from which IP address did he log in; how long he was active etc. All such information is available in the session design.

- Edit & Info version Change
You can now easily see if anybody has edited a SEM and when he had done it, on your Times Page. In earlier versions it was difficult to trace because ‘e’ in the SEM design was grey and barely visible.

- Email
Users can send and receive emails from/to the layer. The reply (to the email sent) is uploaded automatically within the context. It is also possible to have multiple mail-accounts on one layer.

- Times Note
If you want to share an important announcement on the top of the Times Page of a user or a group; use the Times Note functionality. Small notes can be tagged on top of the times page of a particular user/group so that you know they don’t overlook them! This is another kind of alert system (like CALL), but within Colayer environment unlike email or SMS.

- Shuttle Color based on the Role of the user
Along with the option of having a specified look & feel, we also have the possibility of having the shuttle color as per the role. So, the owner will have shuttle with a different color than a provider & so on.

- Vote
This feature helps in getting public opinion by asking any predefined questions by the creator of the Vote SEM. The user can also edit the previous vote. The details of the vote can be viewed by the admin.

- Cached Links
HTML page of the linked website is saved under Cached links. Use of this feature is, if the linked website is down or the contents from that site are changed from when it was linked, the user can click on cached link in the SEM and view the original contents on the linked page.
